Ditch (Pod) Light Bracket Install

Your van is going to look straight up 'ditching'!

Sprinter Van Ditch Light Brackets

What's Included in the Kit

  • A set of ditch light brackets 1x Passengers Side and 1x Drivers side, denoted by the laser cut out either PS or DS respectively.
  • 4x M8 Nylock Nuts with Washers
  • 8x Zip Ties. (More than you need, but you may want to play around with different wire routings so we include extras for you.)

Tools Required

  • Socket Driver with a 13mm Socket
  • A set of flush cutters for trimming zip tie ends
  • (Optional, but highly recommended of course) Our Hood Strut Kit so you don't have to deal with the silly stilt from Mercedes

STEP #1 - Pop the Hood

Pop the hood, and check and look for the studs where the ditch light brackets are going to attach. They will attach to the factory studs on the underside of the factory hood brackets.

This picture shows the hood stud location on the passengers side. It's the exact same on the drivers side but mirrored. Our ditch brackets are designed to work with our Hood Struts, one of the key differentiators.

STEP #2 - Chase the Threads

The studs are usually covered in paint, so it's a good idea to chase them with the included nuts prior to trying to hold the ditch brackets up and doing this at the same time. Be care about cross threading the nuts, but try to run them all the way up the studs to clear the threads.

It can be a good idea to add a bit of oil based rust prevention to the thread like fluid film or Waxoyl since we might be removing some of the paint protection by chasing the threads.

STEP #2.5 - Preinstall the Zip Ties

It can be helpful if you preinstall the zip ties in the zip tie slots. You can do it after the fact, but it's a little more difficult to get them in place. There are two sets of zip tie slots, one for inside wire and one for ouside wiring. We prefer to wire outside then bring the wires in the engine bay through the fender. This prevents the wires from being accidently closed in the hood seal. But overall it's dealers choice.

STEP #3 - Attach the Brackets

Attach the brackets to the studs using the included M8 Nylock nuts and washers. Position the brackets as close to the hood edge as possible and as far to the outside without touching. There's a little bit of play in the holes in the bracket to adjust these positions before tightening everything down.
